LET.IT.GO.~Book & Kindle Fire Giveaway!

November 9, 2012 | 122 Comments

“And He is before all things,
and by Him all things are held together.”
Colossians 1:17
Welcome to Joy In The Truth!!  I am delighted to be participating in the giving away of THREE copies of my friend Karen Ehman’s newest book LET.IT.GO.!  Also, you have an opportunity to win one of two Kindle Fires!!!  So exciting!!

Here are the details!

“May the favor of the Lord our God rest upon us;
establish the work of our hands for us —
establish the work of our hands.”
Psalm 90:17
God alone should establish the work of our hands, and He ordains our times of rest. His favor rests upon as we yield to Him and allow Him to establish how we spend our time. Yet, we often make our daily To Do Lists and hustle along throughout our day without consulting Him.  Yes, we take care of our responsibilities and do honorable things.  But did we really spend our time according to God’s plan for us? This question should challenge us and gently convict us.

Women are wired to control. We make sure the house is clean, the meals prepared, the children are dressed, and everyone gets to where they’re going on time. But sometimes our strength of being conscientious can morph into the weakness of being a slight—or all out—control freak! This humorous, yet spiritually practical book will help you to:

·         Take control of your schedule yet welcome interruptions from God;
·         Draw the line between mothering and micromanaging;
·         Influence your husband instead of manipulating him;
·         Learn to control your emotions when you can’t control the circumstances;
·         Stop pursuing the appearance of perfection and start pursuing God.

    Wow! I can think of at least 2 women, well 3 if I count myself who's Christmas list this book is going on. It's so true, as women, we are expected to "handle it all", but do I allow Him to "handle" me first? Because without him, I can "handle nothing"! Bless you!

    Great advice… Going to write it down and post it on my fridge with the first verse so as I go about my day I see it and remember to work on these principles… And can I also so how grateful I am that there are wise women with Internet sites that help lift me up since I don't have a good bible study yet since my recent move… Crystalskovly@gmail.com

    Thank you for the chance at winning this book! I cannot say I'm necessarily a control freak, but it's a challenge each day to keep all things going and also trying to see where God is leading me. I have been praying very hard about this exact thing and am trying to very "in the moment" and concious of what God is trying to tell me. To be in His will….that's where I want to be!

    Learned about this book through Proverbs 31 website…grabbing it very soon! It's been engraved in me all my life to not let people AND Jesus down…everything needed to be perfect!! Even through infertility, cancer (imperfections in themselves), etc, etc, I was always trying…and in the end, it only proved to be so exhausting and I've realized now that Jesus doesn't need me to work hard to impress Him…but, still a long road ahead and now that He's BLESSED me with 3 amazing adopted children, more than ever, it's even more important to me to learn balance and know that everything DOES NOT HAVE TO BE PERFECT! It's a daily struggle…I just want to be a good mom and wife and friend and employee, etc….I HAVE TO LET IT GO! 🙂 Can't wait to read it and thank you for the opportunity to enter the contest…very neat!!
    Thanks!

    I track with that list so much. Just knowing that we have to plan, shop, cook and get the food on the table…then all the people to their places with the proper attire is enough.
    Add to that being a control freak and it is a recipe for burnout at worst and dash expectations at worse. I know so well, I am glad someone else got to write the book.

    Um, sounds like this book was written for me! LOL! My 22 yr. old son still lives at home while he's finishing up college. I still dote over him, keeping his clothes and his room clean when he slacks off. All too many times I have been accused of being a "control freak". Sometimes I just feel so misunderstood!:-/ I haven't even read this book yet and it's already speaking to my heart. Thanks to the author and their heart for God which through their works speaks to so many of us women searching to make sense of it all. God bless you!:-)

    I almost hate to admit this, but my husband tells me to "let it go" about three times a week. Looks like this book was written for me – haha. Love the new family photos on the blog.

    I am so looking forward to getting my hands on this book. In fact, five friends plan to gather weekly in order to study the book together. Apparently, we all tend to have control-freak tendencies. 🙂

    I am one of the women that get so caught up in "doing a holiday" that I am often not "enjoying my family during the holiday" I am looking forward to reading this book.

    The Lord has been working with me about "Letting things go" for a few years now. I may not be where I should be but at least I'm not where I was.

    I have never read one of Karens books. I recently went through a painful divorce and find myself all alone seemingly with no control over anything or anyone in this life…MAYBE this is the book for me! THANKS for the chance to win either gift, how generous!

    What a blessing…I feel like I have already won! Reading the scriptures in your blog, and your uplifting words and gentle calling to allow God to take the lead in our lives couldn't have come at better time for me. I'm looking forward to reading your books.
