As the saying goes, “The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.” Well, in the case of foot massages, they are right! Momma Tree here loves foot massages, and her little Apples love foot massages, too.
One of my favorite ways my hubby blesses my heart to full is a long, relaxing foot massage. Ever since I was a child, I love when my feet get some tender loving care! Now as an adult, for special occasions, such as my birthday, Mother’s Day and Christmas, all I want is simple gift certificate for a pedicure. I am content with that one gift for the special treat of a pedicure. Happy Feet, Happy Woman. Oh the simple pleasure of a pedicure or a fantastic foot massage.
Well, our cherubs LOVE their feet massaged, too! Last night, we had what the children call “The Foot Massage Train”: we all rub one persons feet while someone else is rubbing ours. It was a great invention!
Often in the mornings, I rub their feet when I wake them up for school. In the evening when we are getting them nestled all snug in their beds, I massage their feet before they drift off to sleep. Though sometimes I am feeling rushed by the demands of the day in the morning or feeling exhausted from the day’s demands in the evening and wanting to go to sleep myself, I have asked the Lord always give me His patience and joy as I take the treasured time to rub their feet.
One morning while I was in the Word, the Lord put on my heart to pray over our cherubs’ precious feet as I massage them. I have kept a list of Pedi-Prayer verses. This might seem silly to some, but I pour my heart out in prayer to the Lord as I massage our cherubs’ feet. Sometimes I pray out loud so the children know my mommy’s heart prayers for them. Sometimes I pray silently to the Lord. He knows the deepest desires and groanings of my heart for our children. Here are some of my “Pedi-Prayer” verses:
Father God, bless our children and their children and may they follow you wholeheartedly.
“Caleb will see [the good land], and I will give him and his descendants the land he set his feet on, because he followed the LORD wholeheartedly.” (Deuteronomy 1:36) “I, however, followed the LORD my God wholeheartedly. So on that day Moses swore to me, ‘The land on which your feet have walked will be your inheritance and that of your children forever, because you have followed the LORD my God wholeheartedly.'” (Joshua 14:8-9)Dear God, guard the feet, heart, body and soul of our children.
“He will guard the feet of His saints…” (1 Samuel 2:9)Mighty God, give our children feet like deer and enable them to stand on the heights for You.
“He makes my feet like the feet of a deer; He enables me to stand on the heights.” (2 Samuel 22:34, Habakkuk 3:19 and Psalm 18:33)Gracious God, keep our children on Your narrow road, hold their steps to Your paths, keep their feet from slipping, may Your Word be forever infused in their hearts, let their hearts never turn from You.
“My steps have held to Your paths; my feet have not slipped.” (Psalm 17:5) ” The law of his God is in his heart; his feet do not slip.” (Psalm 37:31) “Our hearts had not turned back; our feet had not strayed from Your path.(Psalm 44:18)Merciful God, arm our children with Your strength for life’s battles. Let even their enemies bow at their feet because they honor You.
“You armed me with strength for battle; You made my adversaries bow at my feet. (Psalm 18:39)Lord, may our children love and thirst for Your Word so they treasure Your Word and depend on it as a lamp to their feet and a light to their path.
“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.” (Psalm 119:105)Sweet Savior, please cause our children’s feet to stand firm with feet fitted with readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.
“Stand firm then…with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.” (Ephesians 6:14-15)Abba Father, may our children have beautiful feet that bring good news of Your gospel, who proclaim Your peace, who bring Your good tidings, who proclaim Your salvation, whose hearts always say with joy and reverence “Our God Reigns!”
This is one of my favorites!! ‘How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion, “Your God reigns!”‘ (Isaiah 52:7)Loving God, may our children always worship You deeply from the heart with humility, sincerity and passion, unaware of those around them, only totally surrendered to and centered on You. May they honor You by pouring out their best for you and serving You with excellence, by Your grace and strength.
This is my other favorite!! “…as she stood behind Him at His feet weeping, she began to wet His feet with her tears. Then she wiped them with her hair, kissed them and poured perfume on them.” (Luke 7:38)This mommy’s heart Pedi-Prayers for her children. My heart’s cry. He hears me. “I have no greater joy than to know that my children walk in the Truth.” (3 John 1:4) This is God’s greatest joy with His children. It is a Christian parent’s greatest joy for their children, too.
Share with me your prayers for your children. And if you have a favorite “feet verse”, please feel free to share that!
‘”I prayed for this child, and the LORD has granted me what I asked of him. So now I give him to the LORD. For his whole life he will be given over to the LORD.” And he worshiped the LORD there.'” 1 Samuel 1:27-28

Congratulations to Nikki Koanui who will be receiving the gift of the “Experiencing God Day by Day” Devotional by the Blackaby Brothers in celebration of our new blog look!
That is precious Sharon.
What a beautiful idea 🙂
Our children all love back rubs and soft scratches.
Hugs and much love,
Jill
I love this! My 5 yr old LOVES having her feet rubbed. She says in a silly voice while shaking her foot at me "rub me, rub me!" as if her foot is saying it, then when I rub that foot, the other foot calls "Rub me!" it's so cute.
I loved these pedi-prayers. Makes me smile.
That's not silly at all! As Phil. tells us "pray without ceasing." What a great, and creative, opportunity to invest in your kids and bless the Lord's heart!
P.S. love the new look on your blog!
Love, Samantha
Your babies are so blessed to have you as their mom.
this was so very sweet.
Sharon,
This is so beautiful! Thank you for sharing these tender moments. Your children are truly blessed to have you as their mother, Sharon.
Thank you for stopping by my blog last week. Please allow me to pray for you…
Heavenly Father, we love You, Lord, and thank You for the gift and Presence of Your Holy Spirit. Father, Sharon lives her life seeking to know You, Love You, and obey You. At times in our world it is so hard, but her deepest desire is to obey and to yield, even when her heart may tug otherwise. Father, we ask this day that You would continually fill her with more of You…with Your Love, Your Peace, Your Joy, Your Truth, and Your Power. Father, make her heart tender to hear Your voice, to know the way in which she should go and then to walk in it. Strengthen her through Your Word and through quiet time with You. Give her sweet rest and refresh her each and every day to serve You and love You in all that she does. We ask this in Jesus' Holy and Powerful Name. AMEN
