Happy Mother’s Day

May 10, 2009 | 7 Comments

“She gets up before dawn to prepare breakfast for her household and plan the day’s work for her servant girls.” Proverbs 31:15 (NLT)
(WHERE ARE THOSE SERVANT GIRLS WHEN YOU NEED THEM?)

Happy Mother’s Day! We honor our moms today. Jim and I thank the Lord for them. We pray God’s richest eternal blessings on their lives! We love you!

How beautiful…are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion, “Your God reigns!”
Isaiah 52:7

Here is a picture of my mom (“Nan Nan”) with her two oldest granddaughters (who belong to my brother Paul and his wife Ronni, who live in Texas): Stephanie and Lindsey. My mom has consistently shown us all her unconditional love. Even in times of hurt or disappointment, her expression of love for us never ceases. Her heart is filled with eternal hope, and she loves the Lord. She loves her grandchildren with passion and purity. She would do anything for any one of us. She makes every day special. When I was growing up, she would say to me, “There are certain things you won’t understand until you are a mother.” She was so right. I appreciate her diligence and commitment as a single mom (which she was for a good part of our childhood) of four children more than ever. Nan Nan is 100% Irish and loves her green heritage. We love you, Mom!
This picture was taken at my brother PJ’s wedding in December 2007.
Here is Jim’s mom (“Nana”) and dad (“Pop Pop”) with our cherubs this past Easter at their retirement dream home in the Pocono mountains. Jim’s mom is devoted to her family and her faith. We are so thankful that she and Jim’s dad are blessed by enjoying their retirement years in their dream-come-true home. Nana has a shirt that says “Home is Where My Grandchildren Are”…and she means that. And Nana loves when their home is filled with the laughter and noise of their five grandchildren. The roots of her love for her family go very deep. Her generosity, kindness and thoughtfulness towards those she loves expresses the depths of her love. Nana is 100% Italian and she is an excellent cook and baker. The wonderful childhood memories in my husband’s heart have grown from the love of his parents. Happy Mother’s Day! We love you!

“But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart.” Luke 2:19

“How Beautiful” by Twila Paris – Lyrics

How beautiful the hands that served
the wine and the bread
and the sons of the earth.
How beautiful the feet that walked
the long dusty roads
and the hills to the cross.
How beautiful
how beautiful
how beautiful is the body of Christ.
How beautiful the heart that bled
that took all my sin
and bore it instead.
How beautiful the tender eyes
that chose to forgive
and never despise.
How beautiful
how beautiful
how beautiful is the body of Christ.
And as He laid down His life
we offer this sacrifice
that we will live just as he died:
willing to pay the price
willing to pay the price.
How beautiful the radiant Bride
who waits for her Groom
with His light in her eyes.
How beautiful when humble hearts give
the fruit of pure lives
so that others may live.
How beautiful
how beautiful
how beautiful is the body of Christ.
How beautiful the feet that bring
the sound of good news
and the love of the King.
How beautiful the hands that serve
the wine and the bread
and the sons of the earth.
How beautiful
how beautiful
how beautiful is the body of Christ.

Love the tribute you gave to your mothers…so precious. I feel like I know your family, and I LOVE that!!! Your post shows God’s Truth that He blesses godly families, those who faithfully love and serve the Lord their God, for thousands of generations. What an amazing legacy of which to be a part.

    Love,

    Wendy
