“…and a little child will lead them.”
Isaiah 11:6
Each time we leave our home, we always pray together in the car. We pray God’s blessings, protection and will for our journey — whether to church, school, visiting Nan Nan, running errands…wherever.
On Saturday morning, as we were pulling out of our driveway for an Easter Weekend visit to Jim’s parents (Pop Pop and Nana) in the Pocono Mountains, Gabrielle sweetly said, “Can we have a word of prayer?” Jim and I just looked at each other and smiled, holding in our chuckles, not wanting Gabrielle to misunderstand them. We were delighted by her heart’s words, “Can we have a word of prayer?” Jim was still setting the GPS for our trip, and I wasn’t quite buckled up yet…and she knew we should go before the Lord in prayer.
As I have said before, Gabrielle is a little prayer warrior. She prays committedly for things the Lord has put on her heart. She prays with sincerity of heart and faith in God.
We were delighted, but we also got a kick out of the phrase “Can we have a word of prayer?” It’s not a regular expression of ours. We usually just say “Let’s pray.” We wondered where she hears that expression…maybe her teacher, maybe a friend, a friend’s mom, or a Sunday School teacher. We are thankful for others who also show our children the precious value of prayer to our mighty God.
Yes, we can have a word of prayer. Let’s have several words of prayer.
“In the morning, O LORD, You hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before You and wait in expectation.”
Psalm 5:3

Sharon,
Your comment to Holly was so beautiful. I wanted to echo how her commitment to Lysa to never say a dishonoring word about her changed your life. I, too, think about that all the time.
Blessings,
Sandy

I love it! My 5 yr old says similar things and I wonder “where did she get that!”
She prays like an evangelical pastor with her vocalizations and emphasis. Not at all like I do. It ALWAYS makes me smile!
As did your Gabrielle!
