(Please turn up your volume if you’d like to hear the song “Glory Baby” by Watermark.)
In May of 2001, our little family lost a precious little baby who was taken gently from my womb into the loving hands of our Heavenly Father. This precious baby was after Joshua and before Gabrielle. Glory Baby was so small that we did not even know the gender yet. It was Mother’s Day and we had just shared the news with our families that we were pregnant with our second baby.
I remember distinctly the moment God graciously impressed His plan upon my heart. As we were driving home from a Mother’s Day dinner we had enjoyed with family, we came to a stop at a red light, and I felt God whisper to my heart, “My precious child, the baby in your womb needs to come home to Me.” At that moment, I knew something wasn’t right with the baby, but I shushed the whispers away. I trusted the Lord, and He had already given us a precious son in Joshua. However, I was not quite ready to hear the whispers. Yet I knew He was so tenderly preparing my heart.
Shortly thereafter, the miscarriage began. While sadness was in our hearts and it was a difficult time for us, we were also thankful that God, in His mercy and grace, saw fit to bring this baby home with Him. I was also thankful that the Lord had so sweetly prepared my heart.
A friend from my church with whom I was on the worship team sent me a song on a CD called “Glory Baby” by Watermark. This song ministered His love to my heart. This song helped me get through that time, keeping my eyes on Jesus.
I am not sure why, but I am thinking about our Glory Baby today. Maybe because it is spring and Mother’s Day will be just around the corner. Maybe because I saw the friend in church this morning who gave me the CD of “Glory Baby”. Maybe because He wants me to pray for women and couples who are going through this right now (I have been praying today). And maybe because someone who visits here will be blessed by hearing “Glory Baby”, too.
Our two precious children know about Glory Baby. They know they will meet their sweet sibling in heaven. Glory Baby has a few special pages in one of our Creative Memories albums. On one of those pages are the words to the song “Glory Baby” by Watermark.
Miss you everyday Miss you in every way But we know there’s a day when we will hold you We will hold you You’ll kiss our tears away When we’re home to stay Can’t wait for the day when we will see you We will see you But baby let sweet Jesus hold you‘till mom and dad can hold you… You’ll just have heaven before we do You’ll just have heaven before we do
Sweet little babies, it’s hard to understand it ‘cause we’re hurting We are hurting But there is healing And we know we’re stronger people through the growing And in knowing- That all things work together for our good And God works His purposes just like He said He would… Just like He said He would…
BRIDGE: I can’t imagine heaven’s lullabies and what they must sound like But I will rest in knowing, heaven is your home And it’s all you’ll ever know…all you’ll ever know…
How precious to me are Your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them!
Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand. When I awake, I am still with You.”

Hi Sharon
This probably isn’t the place for this but I couldn’t find a place to email you. Maybe I missed it. I am a friend of Laura Stokes and she suggested I contact you. I am a frequent visitor to PRoverbs 31 and many of the blogs associated with it. I recently started my own blog (jbozzoblog.blogspot.com) with the help of a wonderful person I met in the comments section. My blog isn’t great just yet, I’m still working on it. Yours is very beautiful. I just wanted to touch base with you and say Hi! My email is thebozzos@comcast.net

Sharon,
Thank you so much for this touching post. I said good-bye to my own little glory baby almost three years ago. It’s amazing how you can keep someone in your heart for a lifetime even if you only hold them within you for a few short weeks.
And thank you for your sweet comment on my blog. I so appreciate you stopping by and sharing.
Blessings,
Holley
