100th Day!

February 20, 2009 | 3 Comments

“I have more understanding…for I obey Your precepts.”
Psalm 119:100
Today in our school’s first grade, they will be celebrating the 100th Day of School! This is an annual tradition and one of the most memorable days of First Grade.
My dear friend, Cheryl, and I are co-room moms for our daughters’ first grade class. We’ll be spending this special day with the class focusing on math and the number 100. This is a great way for the children to be learning math, without even realizing it! The class room is decorated to the hilt with 100 things, which will be a surprise for the children when the arrive this morning! All three first grade classes will be sharing a huge cake at the end of the day that will be cut into 100 pieces.
A few years ago when I was a room mom for Joshua’s first grade class, the Lord put it on my heart to read Psalm 100 to the class before the day’s festivities began. If He leads, I hope to do that again today. His Word goes before all things, even a really fun, memorable and special day at school.
Psalm 100
“Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth.
Worship the LORD with gladness; come before Him with joyful songs. Know that the LORD is God. It is He who made us, and we are His; we are His people, the sheep of His pasture. Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise; give thanks to Him and praise His name. For the LORD is good and His love endures forever; His faithfulness continues through all generations.”
This short Psalm gives us so many truths. The Lord is God. He made us. We are His. Ahhhh….we are His people. I love being a sheep in His pasture. He is good. His love and faithfulness endure forever. Forever. Through all generations.
As He beckons us to cross the threshold to Him with thanksgiving and praise, our cherubs and I are going to write down throughout the day people and things for whom and which we are thankful. We are going to see if we can get to 100! I think we can!
I am thankful I can spend this day with my children at school and for being room mom for Gabrielle’s class this year! I am thankful I can also spend the day with my friend, Cheryl, and our dear friend, Heather, who is a room mom for one of the other first grade classes. This is so exciting!
Coffee’s done brewing. Quiet time with the Lord is my favorite time of the day. So thankful for quiet time with Him!
What are you thankful for today?? We’ll include it on our list!
We are thankful you visited us here today. We’ll be visiting you soon, too.

Well, I'm a day late in responding, but it's never too late to be thankful.

I'm thankful for the piece of quiet I've enjoyed this afternoon with a good book and a coffee. Just one of many things… :o)

    Hope you enjoyed your day!
    Love & prayers,
    Joy
