“If my people, who are called by My name, will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14
Election Day 2008. This is our prayer…that we, His people, who are called by His name, will humble ourselves, pray, seek His face, turn from any wicked ways. Then He will hear from heaven and forgive our sin and heal our land. Oh, how our land needs healing.
Since they’ve been able to walk, Joshua and Gabrielle have come in the voting booth with me every year on election day. It’s memorable for them, and they look forward to it. Our voting place has a “Kids Vote” center where they can vote and receive a few surprises. For me, I pray that when they remember going to the polls with mommy, they are always thankful for the privilege and responsibility of voting when they become adults.
We just returned home from voting. This year is especially exciting and meaningful since we are voting for President of the United States. It’s also a day of prayer and fasting for many Christians. Seeking Him. Praying for His gracious hand of mercy and blessing on our country and our families. Praying for His will to be accomplished.
I am thankful that God is unchanging. He remains the same awesome God. He remains on the throne and always will. Whatever happens today, His sovereignty is immovable. Our hope is in Him alone.
Joshua’s 3rd grade class had an historic election rally today. Joshua gave a speech supporting Abraham Lincoln. Gabrielle’s 1st grade class voted for a president in their class (the girls won). Her class dressed in red, white and blue. Here is a picture of our Patriotic Pair:
Whatever the news is tomorrow morning, God is the anchor of our hearts, our family and our friendships. May we always act justly, love mercy and walk humbly with our God.
“He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” Micah 6:8
Another great song to go with another great post. CUTE kids!!! Loved Abe!!!!!!
I voted. 😀
Amen sister!!! Love the song – just love it and may be off to add it to my blog – haven’t had it on there since summer:)
I simply adore your patriots…I asked Joshua this afternoon how it went today and he said…”My beard got itchy!” I laughed out loud. Em says, “Oh Mom, he kills me!!”
I have fasted today…I am on my knees and praising God for what He will do…
Love you , friend

I absolutley love this song! I heard Lee Greenwood perform it EONS ago in Nashville! It was perfect for your post.
Sharon, thanks for putting things in perspective. I really liked how you concluded with “Whatever the news is tomorrow morning, God is the anchor of our hearts, our family and our friendships. May we always act justly, love mercy and walk humbly with our God.” That, my friend, is what we need to truly focus on. Many blessings!
Love you!
Susan
Now it’s time to trust like never before.
Adorable picture of your kids!
I got Joshua’s journal! How fun. I wrote in it and mailed it to a friend who home schools in MI. Thought they might like to write in it as an activity.
Then I sent him a copy of what I put in with the postcard via Mrs. Barnhart.
The really funny thing is that I had a teacher in elementary school named Mrs. Barnhart! I laughed when I saw that. I wonder if they are somehow related!
Amen, My Sister, amen!!
and I love the Lee Greenwood Song!!
